Emergency Short Messaging Service (SMS) Helpline

The Emergency Short Messaging Service (SMS) Helpline is a joint initiative between by National Council of Social Service (NCSS) and SPF with support from Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) and the Ministry of Finance (MOF). Disability Information and Referral Centre (DIRC) is a partner of this initiative. This service is similar to the Singapore Police Force’s (SPF's) existing emergency hotline (999), but is targeted at people with hearing and speech impairment. The SMS helpline is another avenue for communication between these users and the Police in times of emergencies. For medical or fire emergencies, the messages will be channelled to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
