Caregivers Training Grant (CTG)

About the Caregivers Training Grant

The objective of the CTG is to support caregivers in their caregiving and build capability of caregivers so that they can better cope and care for the physical and socio-emotional needs of the persons with disability (PWD) or senior (age 65 and above). A training grant to help caregivers defray the cost of training and enable them to acquire the necessary knowledge would contribute to the resilience and stability of their families.

From June 2008, the CTG is extended to caregivers of seniors, this extension is in addition to the CTG for PWD launched since October 07. Caregivers of PWDs or seniors can apply for the CTG to attend training programmes, seminars or workshops (that have been pre-approved for CTG) related to caregiving of persons with disability or seniors at subsidised fees. Caregivers of each person with disability or senior can receive a subsidy of up to $200 per year from the CTG

Scope
  1. Eligible caregivers of each person with disability or senior will receive training subsidies of up to $200 per year from the CTG. ($200 is tied to each person with disability/ senior)
  2. The trainee, who is the caregiver, can be the family member or a foreign domestic helper who has been/is providing care to the PWD or senior.
  3. If more than one caregiver of the same PWD or senior attends the same training, only one caregiver will receive the subsidy from the CTG.
  4. A few caregivers per family can attend different training courses in a year but the claim per family (tied to the PWD or senior) will be up to $200.
  5. Any unused balance of the grant per PWD or senior will not be carried forward to the next year.

To be eligible for the grant, the caregiver must:
  1. Be looking after a PWD or senior, who is a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident
  2. Be the main caregiver of the PWD or senior
  3. Attend a training course/courses pre-approved for the purpose of this Training Grant
  4. Complete the training course and receive the Certificate of Attendance
