ALTERNATIVE SERVICE PROVIDER TO MEET NEEDS OF PEOPLE WITH VISUAL IMPAIRMENT

The National Council of Social Service has made arrangements with the Society of Moral Charities as of 3 Oct 2005 to provide the following range of services for people with visual impairment:

Assessment and referral services by social workers

Training clients with employable skills and to help them secure employment through contract work or job matching

Training & helping newly visually impaired clients to learn how to live safely and independently

They will also coordinate with the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) to provide optometric assessment services to help clients to acquire low vision devices to maximise their residual vision.

Skills training and sheltered workshop services will be provided at the Society of Moral Charities (Visually Handicapped), 830 Thomson Road, Singapore 574624. Tel: 6253 3303.

Shuttle bus services will be provided from Braddell and Toa Payoh MRT stations to Moral Welfare Home and SNEC.
