Rehabilitation & Therapy
Rehabilitation and Therapy
programmes assist a person diagnosed with physical impairment, either
congenital or acquired, in adapting both emotionally and physically to
the environment. Very often, individuals who have not received early intervention
and prevention programmes are advised to seek such programmes to help
them overcome their impairment. The relevant services offered are Occupational
Therapy and Speech Therapy. Therapy assists people with disabilities in
areas of development and self-help skills including mobility (gross and
fine motor skills) as well as play and social skills. Therapists also
give advice on assistive devices and equipment to assist in maximising
independence.
The above is
just an overview. For more information, please refer to the respective
Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWOs) who would be able to assist you.
